Just Proof It!

You want the proof? You can’t handle the proof!

I received my first proof of my book, The Tale of Eartha the Sea Turtle, this week. Although there were some issues, the experience was still positive. The issues were partially my fault, but since this is my blog I’m going to blame Thomas Binderhoff of Sandusky, Ohio. I worked so hard for so long, and he goes ahead and messes everything up.

Okay, I don’t even know if that person exists. I made him up, but it’s still his fault.

The inside cover page was offset since I had designed it for a color bleed (eeeew.), and the book pages were off by one page. What that means is, pages that were designed to be “facing pages” were not. Oops. The cover page screw-up was a good thing. Cindy pointed out that it was similar to the cover and that I didn’t need such an ornate cover page. Lesson learned. So I sent the modified, new and improved, (with extra cleaning power) version of the book to CreateSpace.com and now I await my second proof.

Eartha the Sea Turtle…. There’s an App for that!

Yes there is happy news. If you would kindly direct your browser to iStoryTimeApp.com you’ll see that The Tale of Eartha iPhone / iPod touch app is almost ready. Since it’s marked coming soon, that means it’s been submitted to Apple and is awaiting approval for the app store.

How much would you pay? But wait! There’s more.

I’ve been working on a pricing model for the book. There’s a lot to consider, including the difference between retail and wholesale pricing. I am also preparing a package which will include a signed book, a bookmark with sea turtle facts, 3 color photo postcards, and an 8×10 color photo of the real Eartha. This package will be sold exclusively through the Eartha web site and a portion of the sale will be donated to the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach.

Thanks for following the process. Feel free to comment on any post here on my blog.
